1920s Chinese Embroidered Duster Coat

Description

Embroidered Chinese silk jackets are stunning and of high quality. It is more common to find short jackets so such longer versions are a rare find. There is often scenes of Chinese life and gardens.

This silk example is decorated with flowers, leafy branches, butterflies, and mahjong. In very good antique condition overall.

The coat is a simple straight duster style with a notched lapel. Black exterior, contrasting creamy white silk, and the lining is off-white silk. It hangs straight and was meant to be worn slightly loose.

This is very flexible in size.

Measurements laid flat:
40cm across shoulders
52cm across underarms
62cm long sleeves
92cm from neck to hem

Model is 166cm tall, she normally wears size XS.

Neat repairs to the lining (neck and armpits), and to the shoulders (exterior), strong and sturdy. Some wear to lining around both armpits and minor rippling on one shoulder. Not noticeable when worn. Small brown marks to lining. There is a single tie inside.
